I have three kids including a step child who is ten so schools are of interest of course. I hear they are good out there but don`t know entirely ( Read more... )

If you're part of a national union try contacting the local branch here in Seattle to find out about work. They're going to be able to give you a much clearer picture of what to expect.

And if you're worried about rain... this is really the worst place to move. They're really not kidding when they say it rains all the time here. Its not a hard rain, but you only get consistently dry days during the summer.

Thanks. Personally speaking I am not worried about rain as I am from England and actually really like the rain. It really is just a problem as far as work goes. I would contact the business rep of the Seattle local but this is just a feel of the water kind of thing, rain water I guess.

I'm wondering if Boeing might be an option. Probably not a 1:1 thing, but someone has to paint those planes, right? Worth looking into, anyways - Boeing pays pretty well and has good benefits and, bonus, is one of the more stable local companies (when they're not shipping jobs off to South Carolina).

Kenworth hires a lot of painters, too.

Well for a number of reasons really but for one I really don`t feel like we belong in Georgia. I am hoping to find a place with good schools and more open minded people. It might be hard to find though.

People might argue that Seattlites are a different sort of closed-minded, but I think we're pretty open-minded. Our prices are not fucking around, however. Seattle costs. To be honest, you can get open-minded people in Tacoma, too. Seattlites can be over-educated, and kind of insane in their liberalism. Visualize a broke-ass over-educated lefty sass-pants. Not to pretty, huh. So there's a dark side here. But it's got to be heaven compared to Georgia. I've never been there but it sounds scary as hell.

thanks. Well Georgia has it`s liberals and the like but the overall sense I get here is that I don`t belong here really.

After living in the southwest of England for the better part of a year, my experience was that the climate is incredibly similar to that of Seattle. FWIW.
