I'm moving to Seattle at the end of June and while that's 3 months away I'm already beginning to miss my friends, my comfort zones, etc. My boyfriend has a couple of friends out there and we're both social kind of people so I don't think making friends will be hard. However, I'm getting super nervous I'm going to only be around 3 people for awhile ( Read more... )

maybe include where youre moving from in case other people can relate to that area? and include why youre moving here, what things youll be doing like your type of work, what neighborhood/area youll be living in, etc.

Hey! I'm a stylist here :)

Will an IN license transfer over? I know some states have different licensing requirements. A lot of salons aren't hiring employees around here right now because times are tough and there aren't enough clients to go around unless you're one at the big overhyped salons.

You can PM me if you like if you want info on the cosmo scene here :)

yeah I got a written confirmation from the state board saying as long as I'm licensed in IN all I have to do is take the written )and maybe the practical) exam when I get there and I'll be licensed there as well.

which salon are you at?

Last month I started leasing a chair at Bridge Blond on Eastlake, and I LOVE being my own boss. I wish I had picked a better time to go out on my own, though :P

I dunno how I feel about renting a booth ... I'm too bad at management and money to take care of EVERYTHING on my own.

I guess it's definitely always an option, I just know I'd be HORRIBLE at it haha

in reality, i am probably too boring and shy for you, but in theory i like most of those things. at the very least i can direct you to a great tattoo artist and delicious cupcakes.

so...maybe?

Sounds good to me. Why would you think you're "too boring" for someone?? I don't think this is possible; people either have common interests or they don't and if your theory is correct then we have basis for good conversation and fun times. :)

because i like all those things, but i don't tend to actually spend my time DOING them--mostly i go to work, come home, and sit on the couch and THINK about roller derby :)

but maybe i need to break outta my shell!

Indy expat as well (16th and Tibbs, yo). Left in 96 for Seattle.

Derby here is getting a little odd (as much as I love RCRG) being at Key Arena. I'm hitting Everett (Jet City) and Oly lately, but feeling the urge to see DLF kick some ass soon.

Victor Policheri. He's also out of the country at the moment, but he's amazing.

I'd say that it'll take a little bit of time to get used to Seattle, but that would be a lie. You'll either love it or hate it, there's rarely an in-between.
