It's summertime, so the rates have increased.

Try the Watertown. I helped a friend find a room there. Nice place. Cheaper than downtown.

between the two of us we'd need about a flat of Rockstar which runs about $33 and is much more in my price range ;)

It's tourist season, and SeaFair. All the rates have gone up. You might be able to get something through Priceline.com or Kayak.com, but your chances aren't too good.

More details on what matters to you would be helpful.

The College Inn in the U District will be a lot less expensive than $200 per night, but very basic. It's a step up from hostel, with privat rooms, but the rooms don't have an ensuite bath -- toilets and showers are down the hall. If you want more luxe, try the Watertown or the Hotel Deca -- also both in the U District -- they both have packages somewhat under $200. If you need to be closer to downtown, the Best Western Executive Inn by Seattle Center is well-priced without being a horrible fleabag.

If you're just looking for a price break why not use Priceline, Orbitz, Hotels.com, or one of the other travel booking sites? Or stop by your local book store and get a copy of the Let's Go guide for the PNW -- the Let's Go guides are usually a good resource for cheaper accomodations.
