Yay! This was such a lovely surprise. I'm happy that there's now some poetry in this round and it's good, and it's my favorite canon era, too... <3

I like what you did with "and as for myself…/ we both know there’s nothing left to save" and the Rest in Peace reference (if it was there before, I only noticed it now). The rest, I already told you. :p

Thanks! Yeah I think the bit's your mentioning were late additions I think. The text you quoted definitely, not so sure about the Rest in Peace reference. The funny thing is that I can't remember consciously deciding to do a reference to Rest in Peace, but I must have at least on some level known what I was doing.

Thank you so much for all your lovely and insightful beta feedback, it really helped me strengthen the whole thing up!

That was so beautiful. I love the idea of him moving as slow as geology.

Thank you! That was actually one of my favorite metaphors. :)

This is wonderful. I think writing *good* poetry is the hardest thing, but like a punch to the chest when someone gets it right. So, ow.

I like many things: the geology metaphor, as someone else mentioned. The car splitting open like a flower; the weightlessness vs his heaviness with sin, guilt; his mouth full of dirt; the Sun as mercifully merciless queen - how Buffy must appear to the broken vampire; his conversations with a Buffy who may or may not be there; the dandelion soft brush of lips... just beauuuuuuutiful.

I'm not a writer so I find it difficult to put into words why I love this poem so much, but I really really do. It touched me so much. Still a bit tight in the chest as I'm typing this.

This is such a startling entry! I don't know how this idea entered your mind, but it works. It really works. A story told in poem form, who would have thought.
I'm very, very impressed, bravo!
I also liked it a lot!
