Really nice! Love them both! I've never managed to get good at banners; I really have so much respect for those of you who can create such beauty!! Thanks for sharing them!

That would be awesome! I currently, LUCKILY, have two wonderful people eager and willing to make banners for my stories, but you know, things change over time. It wouldn't be bad for me to have some skills. Thanks much!

Cool! This is the online program I use:
https://pixlr.com/editor/
It does most of the things that Photoshop does, apparently, but it's free.

This explained layers to me (you might be beyond that stage)

This explained textures to me (it's for Photoshop, but works the same way in Pixlr).

Thanks! Yes, I have played with layers, but I have the most trouble blending the pictures together to make it look right. I'll take a look at these and give it another go!

You might try finding out of pixlr has layer masks like you have in Photoshop, because these make it very easy to blend images together. (This could for example have helped to make the blending of the shadows around Spike in the Life Serial image a lot more seamless.) Basically you connect a black and white gradient (the mask) to the layer with the image, and it serves to make parts of the layer transparent in a very smooth way.

Awesome! I will definitely look into that, thank you so much. -- Yup, Pixlr has those. Thought so. I had heard of them a little, but didn't fully get what they do. Am going to educate myself. ^^
