Aaah, meerkat AU! That's just wonderful! I loved meerkat!Buffy and Joyce kicking ass.

It makes sense that Spike isn't a meerkat in this AU, but still I was a tiny bit disappointed, as I was already imagining the fan art possibilities :-)

Seapealsh did have a little bit to do, but it's true I was mostly after moral support (having someone say that it's postable). Which she handled, so everything was rainbows and puppies.

Poor Sheila. Like, what could be worth the risk? Just because Buffy doesn't know what all the fuss is about (yet), and Sheila does, doesn't make her a bad meerkat. Or maybe it does, in meerkat terms. Seems kinda harsh, but then life on the Serengeti isn't always a basket of grubs.

Why do I think that cobra will be back?

It's the Kalahari (which I didn't mention, so whatever), but otherwise, absolutely. They depend on teamwork for survival, annd, apparently protecting the kids doesn't go too well if there are too many? Actually, I don't know a single solid reason for the strict matriarchy. They happen to stabilize their society like this. (It just occurred to me that meerkat!Buffy should really be a male, seeing as meerkat females are usually physically stronger and have more political power... but that would be if I wrote for a meerkat audience.)
