My premise was that she knew it anyway -- hence the being in L.A., but too nervous to make the first move. The funny just made it easy to say.

And there's no way Buffy wasn't amused at some of Spike's silliness right along, even as she insisted to herself that she wasn't. Like the repressed lust, the repressed amusement had to spill over eventually. :D

Apologies for coming to this so very late, but I'm with rebcake on the matter. Mr Poopy-Pants sounds so very Willow-ish; I think you got it just right here. And really lovely, this. I love seeing Buffy laugh - it's easy to get caught up in the angst and forget how essential humor was to their relationship.

And your warnings - I expected something not this, something not this good, this warm and affectionate.
