This is awesome. I love how you establish the sense of future and endless time in the beginning with Spike traveling through space.

One of my favorite parts was when Cameron finally started fighting all-out and that what made her different was the way she used the environment to her advantage. That's so Buffy. I was totally captured by that passage - incredibly gripping.

And this:

“And I loved you.”

His eyes widening in shock, Spike stared at Cameron for a long time. Her voice had dropped to a hesitant murmur. She didn’t sound very certain of herself anymore; of course not. Picking up his glass, he finished the last of his champagne before shaking his head. “No, Slayer. You didn’t.”

Oh, Spike - you're never gonna believe it, are you? But even Cameron knows better than him that it's true.

*off to read second part*

Sooooo loving this story.

Up to your very best standard. (and that would be "Falling.") Thank you.

Oh. You're killing me.
I'm soo in love with your story. I'm also in love with your brain. You've come up with a very unusual situation and the developments are fascinating.

You set the scene for this future world beautifully in that first sentence. The idea that The Powers That Won't Leave Things Be resurrect the souls of ... the too few fighters who had never faltered, who had always been true to them, who had sacrificed themselves to their cause... is fascinating, and I love that Spike has been helping, hanging close to The Council, waiting for Buffy's soul to be reborn.

Cameron is already entertaining, as is Spike's reaction to her. She's not his slayer right away, but he knows how to hone those skills, and pull her innate abilities to the fore. Their interaction has been friendly and professional so far, but their past life together is melding with the present, and now it appears Cameron wants some answers. Her "And I loved you" seems to have taken Spike aback. Let's see if she can be more convincing than Buffy was the first time around.
