It actually happened!  I found a presidential candidate that I can actually get down with!  And so, on the off chance that m vote would actually mean something...I'm going to vote for him.  I'm still really amazed he's out there!

If you're interested, check him out.  I think he's got a very strong track record, his voting history is consistent and ( Read more... )

Oh I am all about smaller government involvement in my life too, I just really disagreed with his war stance and that is an important enough issue to me to make that enough.

I'm not 100% in agreement with him on that either BUT I DO agree that he's right about the fact that the President does NOT have the constitutional right to declare War without Congress. Also, his stance is that IF we are going to go to war, we should declare war...not international policing that we are doing. I can't disagree with that, either ( ... )

I disagree with his war ideas, but other than that, the only thing I need to know: Is he pro-life, and does he vote that way?

Yes he is but I don't know exactly how he votes on the issue. He's very pro-life values (Christian) but he also believes in a free market. I'm not entirely sure how he reconciles the two just yet.

Oh, here you go (haha, I missed this on his website).
http://www.ronpaul2008.com/issues/life-and-liberty/

The right of an innocent, unborn child to life is at the heart of the American ideals of liberty. My professional and legislative record demonstrates my strong commitment to this pro-life principle.

In 40 years of medical practice, I never once considered performing an abortion, nor did I ever find abortion necessary to save the life of a pregnant woman.

In Congress, I have authored legislation that seeks to define life as beginning at conception, HR 1094.

It goes on from there...

Ron Paul wants the abortion issue to go back to the states to handle, not have federal legislation about it. He feels it is murder, and like with felonies such as murder or robbery, each individual state handles how the offenders are dealt with. True, that could mean there will be states that have legalized abortion, but others won't...that's whole idea of a republic though.

Yay for you finding a candidate! I am probably not gonna vote. Danny and I say we're not voting unless we find a candidate who runs a clean campaign, but I see that happening...oh, never. :)

He doesn't accept donations from anyone over $500. He has funded his campaign, so far, mostly himself. I'm still shocked.

oh! another interesting tid bit...he voted against giving Rosa Parks that award. He said it was out of the scope of government to be giving away money like that and said it's really easy to spend other people's money. He then offered to fund the award with some of his own cash and asked if anyone else in congress would like to join him and volutneer some of their money. Of course, no one else would.
