I've had a lot on my mind of late. I haven't been sleeping and I've had a lot of anguish over some things. My father will be a part of a team that ministers to new people on a retreat called Walk to Emmaus. He sent me some information he's reading that he thought might be of value. I will try this again for the millionth time. I always leave comments, but have a hard time posting them. For some reason I am not liked by Livejournal;) All I wanted to say was that I love Henri Nouwen. I am very familiar with him. It is always amazing that something so long ago can still connect to us today!

Fascinating, fascinating. In a weird way, it reminds me of what Charleton Heston said in his "farewell" speech (when he was suffering from Alzheimer's, this just reported yesterday because of his death)--"I must summon courage and surrender in equal measure."

I like that sentiment and I can see how you could be reminded of it by the passages. There's a very yin-yang quality to both thoughts. I find myself realizing how very seldom I practice such feats of balance.
