Akira knew, on a basic and very useless level, that it was May 5th.

Awesome. This fic of quiet moments seems to work best at its most hushed; you really build a mood and hold it, while staying true to the characters. Bravo.

very nice fic, with an original way about the "Hijaru tell Akira about Sai" (a theme generally bad written, but which you made quite natural)
serious but not too sad, a sort of nostalgic i think

What a beautiful, moving piece. I love your writing here. Some of the lines made me giggle while others made me very nostalgic over Sai and sad for Hikaru, which was just a perfect blending to make this an uplifting piece.

I especially liked how you incorporated the Go world's paranoia over Shindou leaving in May. You get the feeling that Shindou has established himself now, that even go officials notice when he's taking leave.

Plus Hikaru's little speech about Shuusaku and him having something in common just blew me away as well. It reminded me about how Sai must have felt when he lost Torajirou. Very moving. And thaks for brining it all together at the end with Hikaru's explanation. Great closer.

I hope you don't mind if I rec this in my journal next time I update?

Wow, thanks. I really wanted to bring the tones that I loved in the manga -- the wistful nostalgia, in particular -- into a coherent sort of resolution for Hikaru and Akira. I'm honestly surprised that my personal little coda is even being noticed, let alone praised. Surprised, but very pleased ( ... )
