Stories like this rock my world.

Oh, and Bush wants to raise your taxes... sort of:

Bush is proposing to change to how the tax code treats health insurance, by counting employer contributions toward health insurance as taxable income while establishing a standard deduction for anyone with insurance. The White House says it would introduce ( Read more... )

That's retarded. Speaking as someone who once was having trouble making ends meet, and only had health insurance thanks to the wonders of employer contributions, the people that this is going to hurt the most is the people that already aren't very well off. People with excellent income of course won't be affected in anywhere near the same way.

I'm interested in hearing the details of how they choose who gets affected by this and who doesn't, AND the details of how this is going to affect market forces for the health care companies. It's not like the health care companies are paying more taxes, it's just random people that are paying.

Yeah, I don't get it either. How is this supposed to make it easier for the working stiffs? And I thought this administration was all about tax cuts (for the rich). I don't see how this "positively" affects anything, except making up their budget deficits while simultaneously attacking something they already don't like.

I hope it doesn't pass. With this congress, I don't see how it could.
