matchstyx is a coworker of mine and a playwright whose stuff I keep trying to convice people to see.

Goethe is (according to Beutel) the German equivalent to Shakespeare. I'm too lazy to verify that on Wikipedia, but the choir I just vowed not to sing with again did a song to which he'd written the text.

Jimmy Carter brought us 21% inflation. He was also in office when the Iran hostage rescue mission failed. Whether or not it's fair to judge his presidency on that, it cost him reelection. Some of us felt that he lost the election because he scheduled a speech during the broadcast of the 2-hour pilot movie of Battlestar Gallactica and King Kong, but for some reason people didn't like our opinions on that. :)

I'm with you on respecting his post-office activities.
