So tonight I will buy some treats and hope for trick or treaters (we didn't get any last year) and dream Halloween dreams of next year. I too tend to measure time by the month of Halloween, this month has always felt more like endings and beginnings to me then the dead of winter, which only seems to hold endings. I suspect I will feel kind out of time displaced until next year (when I should be able to celebrate with my normal gusto).
So tonight I will think fondly of all the folks for whom tonight will feel like Halloween and know that I too will be able to revel in the celebrations next year. May your Halloween hold all of its old specialness, and I wish you a dollop of my normal Halloween cheer.
