Every month I make a post to tell folks what I'm working on, a) because it seems polite, b) because it keeps me accountable, if only to myself, and c) so you will understand why I do not have a social life. This is the April 2014 post. We are now officially in the second quarter of the year. Whee ( Read more... )

I just realized you mention cuckoos in the description of Nativity of Chance! Apparently I'm not particularly observant...I've been looking forward to seeing that one to flip over to writing for awhile now but that makes it even more intriguing :-)

This comes up from time to time! Not the same sort of cuckoos. Not the same sort of cuckoos at all. This book has no connection to the InCryptid universe or the species of the same name.

I actually figured it wasn't but knowing where your brain goes when you mention cuckoos it's sure to be an entertaining ride one way or another. ;-)

I have your "Wicked Girls" poster hanging in my kitchen in a spot designed to catch the eye of guests waiting to use the bathroom. My gaming group loved it so much they are in a hurry to go read your books. I pointed them to the In Cryptids as those are most relevant to their interests. They were also really excited to learn it was a song, not a poem.

Your poster is not only lovely and the lyrics beautiful and powerful in themselves, but it turns out to be good marketing.

Your ongoing references to seasonal monarchs helped inspire a grimdark Big Bang Theory fic that I wrote. To quote my beta, 'i don't know what goes on in your head'. What goes on in my head is that I get the idea of seasonal monarchs in my head, and sacrifice, and suddenly I'm tagging frickin' Big Bang Theory fic with 'Major Character Death'.

Of course, it's all just warming them up for the BBT/Newsflesh crossover, in which Penny/Shotgun is the primary OTP.

The best part is that doing this has inspired a better research ethic for me, so when I'm working on my own original stuff I'm doing a lot less half-arse stuff and thinking I can get away with it just because it's fiction.
