Current projects, January 2014.

Jan 15, 2014 09:27

Every month I make a post to tell folks what I'm working on, a) because it seems polite, b) because it keeps me accountable, if only to myself, and c) so you will understand why I do not have a social life. This is the first such post of 2014, chronicling the January 2014 works in progress ( Read more... )

still catch the tide, echo, sit stay i hate you, writing, busy busy busy, pretty poison apples, chaos choreography, lycanthropy, current projects, editing, a red-rose chain, nativity of chance, chimera, silver slipper blues

For some reason I had it in my head that Forced Evolutions was going to be a duology. Glad to be corrected. (Well, until I read book 2 and find myself NEVER SLEEPING AGAIN*.)

* This is meant as praise for writing ability, and the ability to unsettle me. And a mental reminder to me to not read Mira Grant before bedtime unless I'm rereading.

It was! But that all changed when the Sequel Nation attacked.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that remembered it was a duology. Recently, I had read it was now a trilogy (on Wikipedia) and went, "Buh?"

I finished Parasite on the way to work this morning. I loved it!

Tansy is an absolute scream. Was she as fun to write as she is to read?

I also loved the quotes from Don't go out again. I thought they sounded familiar, then realised that Mira Grant was plagiarising Seanan McGuire. Wonderful :)

Can't wait for Symbiont.

Please don't use the word "plagiarizing" for things like this. That sort of thing can catch on and spread. I committed no plagiarism. Parodying myself is in no way not okay.

I apologise. I should have realised that was a stupid word to use, especially to an author.

I didn't think it was a parody though, I loved the way that the lyrics took on a whole new life and fitted perfectly into the Parasite story.

ARRRGGGHH! ACCCKKKKK! Oh, sorry. That's just me totally freaking out at the thought of having that much work lined up in front of one. Okay, I'll try to stop hyperventilating now.

New follower here :)

I'm with you on posting to keep myself accountable. Once it's in writing and then shared with other people then I feel I probably should keep following through.

You're writing an Oz book?! If I could pre-order it this second I would!

She has a great Oz short story in the recent Oz Reimagined anthology. Well worth the read!

Well that's going to go onto my "to buy" list pretty immediately :) Thank you!

I periodically review the Bibliography page on Seanan's website, to see if there are any new things that I've somehow missed - usually stories in anthologies. The lovely thing about picking up an anthology to read the story by Seanan is that I invariably discover new authors to read! Helps tide me over until the next Toby Daye or Incryptid novel comes out. :-)

I am excited for many things on this list. And kind of going O.O because wow that is a lot of works in progress. Never bored, indeed! :)
