Title: Velveteen vs. The Robot Armies of Dr. Walter Creelman, DDS.
Summary: The continuing adventures of a former child superheroine and her allies, who include Rainbow Brite's lesbian little sister, an escapee from a Rankin-Bass cartoon, and a deeply irritated Victorian gadgeteer with a raygun that used to be a toaster. No, really.

Victoria Cogsworth managed not to slam the door to her borrowed bedroom behind her, although it was a near thing... )

Reanimator!

Hmmm. Tad -- even hors de combat -- has a face. Velveteen can animate anything with a face...

Interesting origin story; doesn't explain yet where Marketing came from.

Thanks!

Uh-huh. Assuming that's correct, did she jumpstart him and he's actually okay now, or would he die if she got sucked into another dimension? (I think it's correct, and part of Velveteen's connection to Spring, which I hadn't seen any previous evidence for.)

The fact that Velveteen can't heal her toys argues for Velveteen jumpstarting Tag into a self-sustaining second life. The degree to which Seanan tends to abuse her characters argues for Tag as dependent on Velveteen's power. (Tag dying would certainly be a potential resolution to the Tag - Velma - Aaron love triangle. Though I think that's going easy on Aaron.)

As someone below pointed out, in a number of alternate universes, a much harsher renamed Velveteen was animating road kill. Oops.

Oh god. I'd almost forgotten that Jackie said Vel was dead in the alternate histories where she became the Marionette. I cannot see this thing with Tad ending well...

Oh, frak, that's right -- when she went bad, she was animating roadkill...
