Thomas is a gifted cat, but cats never seem to remember that they have tails when they are hiding. Especially when they are long, fluffy Maine Coon tails. Admittedly, it does make them easy to find. (My mother's 'probably part Maine Coon' cat was named Peppy after Pepe Le Pew, because of the way he carries his giant, fluffy tail like a banner, except when he is getting it into everything and using it to knock down things on shelves.)
