The periodic welcome post.

Hello, everybody, and welcome to my journal. I'm pretty sure you know who I am, my name being in the URL and all, but just in case, I'm Seanan McGuire (also known as Mira Grant), and you're probably not on Candid Camera. This post exists to answer a few of the questions I get asked on a semi-hemi-demi-regular basis. It may look familiar; that's ( Read more... )

I have a question about Deadline--do you know if it's coming out May 31st or June 1st? Sources (B&N and Amazon, notably) differ on the date. Not that one day is a *huge* thing, but still...

If you check my lovely Bibliography page, it will always have any firm release dates which I have access to. So far as I know, May 31st is the release date for Deadline.

Oh, thanks!

Though this isn't the first I've heard of it possibly being released in June rather than May. I can only hope my local B&N will release it on the 31st. (Sadly, there aren't any local bookstores that I know of around my hometown. I guess we're too small for that; I have to go a couple towns over just to find the B&N store.)

Book release dates are almost always Tuesday, if that helps :-)

As a Buffy obsessed stalker of yours (I'm bedridden with hyperparathyroidism, I'm a safe stalker), I would like to ask why you are bitter about how Buffy ended. I am bitter about the entire last two seasons, but as I love your writing, I am interested in your opinion.

(Oh, and Misha just bought me Wicked Girls. I LOVE the song Cartography, makes me boohoo like the homo emo whats I am.)

Because they ended the series by causing Buffy to become what she hated the Watchers for being. She Chose for every Potential in the world, and then she didn't have the decency to feel sorry. And no one ever called her on it.

(Yay!)

Though it makes me unpopular in certain circles, I am not bitter about how Buffy ended, but AM bitter that Buffy lasted how many seasons!? and Firefly was yoinked after less than one!!!! I know intellectually that the two are unrelated, it is not Buffy's fault, and it was all the network's mishandling, but still.... *wails in the corner*

I think it's Joss's fault, honestly. If he'd taken the time to finish Buffy's story on a solid footing, he would have had more support, both from the fans and from the network, for a new show.

You know, that actually makes good sense. Thank you.

You may have just offered the first thoughtful response I've ever received on this, rather than the standard BUFFYISPERFECTANDWONDERFULHOWDAREYOUQUESTIONTEHAWESOME?!?? reaction I usually get.

Dude, Buffy was far from perfect. Especially toward the end.

If I wasn't already a fan because of your books, the fact that you are a Stephen King fan, love terrible horror movies in Sci-Fi sorry, I refuse to call it Scy-Fy and are owned by 2 Maine Coons just seals the deal.

Oh, it's not Scy-Fy, it's SyFy. I'm not entirely sure which one looks more ridiculous, but it is a silly rebranding. Siffy.

I understand why they changed the name (it's a trademark thing), but yeah, it's silly as hell.
