Australia! Well...sort of.

Oct 29, 2010 07:56

My last day in Australia dawned bright and disgustingly early, as I needed to be at the airport while the birds were still trying to figure out what the fuck was up with that big shiny "sun" thing. Jeanne and Mal drove me to the airport, where they dumped* me summarily on the curb and sped off into the sunrise. Jerks ( Read more... )

I am glad the flight was as kind to your back as could be. Aisle seats are my new favorite thing. Also good for claustrophobia!

Oddly, I always feel better in a window seat, because I can see the outside, and the cold air from the window is calming in a stifling airplane, whereas being on the aisle, especially while the plane is being loaded, feels more claustrophobic. On the other hand, it means I can sit with you on two-seater rows should we ever have occasion to fly together.

I used to think that about the window seats too, and I'm not sure what changed. I just know that I had a window seat from Seattle to Dallas and I really thought I was going to become hysterical. It might have made a difference that it was at night, too.

Sitting as far forward on the plane as possible also helps.

We must never fly together. On the same plane, sure, but not together. For I prefer back of plane, window seat.

Totally irrelevant to your post, but I thought you should know. Bath and Body Works has a candy corn scented hand sanitizer (actually candy corn and caramel, I think). I only know this because a friend (popfiend) sent some to Cora for Halloween. As soon as I saw it, I thought of you. I can't find it on their website, though...

and the store near me has candy corn flavored *taffy*... No idea if this is something new, or I just never noticed it before.

I have some. It's anti-bacterial, and thus causes me serious moral issues (and yet I keep using it).

Seanan, I'm sorry your flight home was such a hassle. At least you didn't have to try and get a Hugo through customs. Imagine explaining why you have a small missile shaped object in your luggage. Hope to see you at Worldcon in 2011 where this time I'll be the one out of their homeland.
OT, I just finished and loved A Local Habitation, there's a review at http://travelsthroughiest.blogspot.com. I hope putting the link here is ok. Please feel free to tell me off if it's a no no.

I love reviews! Thank you!

And hopefully someday, I'll be struggling with a Hugo.
