I'm taking this opportunity to vent a little about something.  Er, maybe vent is too strong of a word.  Basically, I think Live Journal is one of the only places that a certain handful of friends of mine don't frequent, so I'm using it as my sounding board--to see what I've written, mostly.  Some feedback if anyone is even on LJ anymore.  I have ( Read more... )

I logged in for the first time in forever and saw your post. I agree that it seems like people tend to get a little too dramatic over who gets elected to office. My aunt is one of those people who is talking about moving to Panama since Obama got elected again. I am rolling my eyes. My extended family is all Mormon so I expected them to support Romney, only I'm embarrassed they supported him because he makes for a poor example of a good LDS. In the end, it seems like all the arguments end up actually being over specific policies rather than WHO is in office because admittedly, they're all about the same. ie, politicians.

woot for randomly finding posts!

I've heard that reaction from a lot of LDS people, actually. That's got to be "between a rock and a hard place." On the one hand, you wanna be like, "Go team Mormon!" But if he's not being the greatest example of a Mormon (and I have to admit I barely looked into it, but it seems definitely to be a recurring theme)then the other half of you is like, "Oh good gravey, NO!" And I can imagine it would just make you kinda want to slink into the ground and wait till it all blows over. I feel like we didn't hear a whole lot from the LDS church during the mid/later parts of his campaign. So, it's interesting.

Following policies rather than politicians makes a lot of sense to me, actually. But its so damned difficult to see clearly through all of the double-speak and BS.

Hey, when are we gonna hang out? ;-)
