Geek Week

Last week was eventful and mostly devoted to the arts of nerdhood and geekdom. Not entirely though. Tuesday started off with a rather badass interview for a manager position in Boulder. I don't really think I'll get it (and those of you who know details of this, remember this is an open post!), but it did go really well, in the sense that the panel ( Read more... )

Kewl! Sheriff Carter. Last I heard that series ended. Too bad...I liked it and he was the glue that held it all together.

It's a cute show, which I've enjoyed. It's ending in mid July, sadly, but at least it got 5 seasons. I particularly enjoyed the steady guest appearances of Will Wheaton and Felicia Day in the last 2 seasons.

I'd like to try, I think, if it's not too expensive. I didn't even find out about it this time until too late. We'd made plans to go camping and go to South Park (yes, THAT South Park) and had it planned out for weeks.

Tickets were $25 for Saturday, kids for free. And it definitely sounds like it's gonna become a yearly installment from now on. Friggin' Will Wheaton promised to come next year in his damn apology film.

It has been 20 years since I've been to a major con (hmm perhaps more) My pictures are of a panel with Stan Lee and Jim Sterenko (who, you ask?) about the original SHIELD (Nick Fury was white) The best costume I remember was a Hawkman. People ran around doing the "Logan's Run" thing. San Diego just got too big for me, since I liked to go sell (to pay for the whole thing) and it out grew the small independent "collector/dealers".

Yeah, I've heard that San Diego has gotten ginormous, still maybe I'd like to go once, but I'm also a more moderate size person. Logan's run eh? I'm rather fond of that movie, I like 60's and 70's scifi. I have friends who went to cons in the 80's, mostly Star Trek, but still...

Awesome cool fun! Looks like some nifty costumes, and happy to see the browncoats well represented.

It really was! And I can't wait to see the outfits next year, since the very first try was so great.

Interesting photos. I can't understand half of who they represent though.

Well, the last two are kinda obscure if you aren't a Firefly enthusiast (the girl in the dress only makes sense if you've seen and remember *one* particular episode), several are Dr Who related and rather subtle to those who haven't watched that show, Jay and Silent Bob are only obvious if you've seen certain particular Kevin Smith movies and Loki if you've seen the new Avengers movie.

oh, and btw, if you haven't seen the 14 episodes of Firefly and the movie "Serenity" that comes after, I think I dare recommend them warmly to you!
