Gertrude is very lovable, she's silly, smart, affectionate and angsty, combinations that trigger all kinds of protective parental reflexes effectively. Since she is an Omega to all the alpha dogs around, it is a good survival mechanism to be adorable!

Oh, Sweden is like Canada in yet another matter, the big shopping day over there is also boxing day, and "the middle days" as the days between boxing day and New Years eve are called. That's when there are huge sales. The difference between the US would be that they don't start at midnight or in the wee hours very often.

Happy midwinter to you and Per and miss Moxie!!

Holiday light displays are my favourite part of the season. That and all the chocolate :o)

I love the little doggie in her cute sweater.

ooh, chocolate! Thanks for reminding me that I need to do some more chocolate hunting, no proper Christmas without it.

She is definitely cute enough to turn even the most hardened specimens diabetic!

It's a truly lovely and original bowl. You can commission all kinds of nerdy stuff from her, she's very talented and has reasonable prices considering it's unique art. She'll probably still be around when you guys get rich from either engineer innovation or bestseller writing!

too many crazed shoppers to contend with

Hey, at least we didn't use pepper spray, like some woman did, according to the news! ;)

I'm so glad you're enjoying that bowl.

It's been very admired over here, as it looks even better live. Only problem is I have trouble putting candy in the bowl, because the dragon is so pretty.

I guess it's just the tradition of most American festivals or parades to have a king and queen (and yes, prom too!).

It sounds like a harvest festival tradition maybe? Which is a tradition I like in general, just not very fitting for Lucia, who is the total star of the parade, and the star boys and ladies in waiting are after-constructions.

The pepper spray incident really did happen...fairly close to me. As a matter of fact my d-i-l was in that store several hous later (not knowing about it) and could still smell the pepper spray in the air.

Freaky, with that pepper spray woman near you! Some vague mental disorder comes to mind, but you never know...
