Why are we moving to this state? Is it because we're gluttons for punishment? That must be it.

Is that for certain, or are you still pondering Austin? I'd certainly rather be here than D. C., and I'm sad this state is so terrible for my health, because it would certainly be cheaper to settle here than California (plus, I seriously love our house). However, as awful as fire season tended to be in San Diego, it was shorter than the disastrous rainy season is proving to be down here.

*Sigh* I really do love St. Pete. I too worry about the climate, though. I tell IHG that we really should go through a summer before we buy a house there. But we can't really afford a house in Austin anymore, with the rising cost of living there. We could have managed it when we first moved there, but even with the housing market as it is, the city's rising popularity has made a house there more than we want to spend. We don't expect our income to always be what it is at this moment, and we don't want to be committed to expenses based on the height of our income.

I don't know. I'm conflicted. I think Austin is a better investment and there are many things I love about it. On the whole, though, I found St. Pete a more comfortable fit for me, and IHG was very comfortable there too. I am wondering if going through the summer of rain, heat, and humidity will change our minds about it. We were there in winter, after all. I grew up spending summers in FL but it was a long time ago and maybe I've forgotten what it's like.
