Random pic I did while waiting to start work today. I messed up all over the pic, especially the face, but had fun playing around with my colored inking pens. Methinks I'll start using the sienna ones for skin now, it looks so nice. *w*

The colored inks really add to the color, and kinda keep the eye from getting distracted by the line art and instead get your to focus on the image as a whole instead of in parts (line art vs color).

I've found I get that effect by just using the sepia toned pens as opposed to the black ones. Especially when I color images with soft coloring styles, like watercolor stuffs.

Mhmm. I really like colored inks, but most of the ones I have are kind of thicker than I'd like them to be. They're from Marvy, and I think they're the .1 mm ones? I dunno. There's also something about the ink that makes it feel more like a marker than a pen. It likes to bleed a bit, I think. I definitely see what you mean, though, about the line art vs color thing.

I looooove sepia pens. I need to get more of them. OTL What brand of sepia pens do you use? I've only got the prismacolor ones (I thought I had sakura microns, but that wasn't the case). I've heard that the Faber Castell ones were pretty good, too.

I use the Faber Castell ones myself and I love them. They are filled with India Ink which has a nice flow and doesn't bleed too bad. :D
