Fresh Blood - Presented by The Chimera Project

Quick post. Today held the evening of Fresh Blood, a program of short modern dance pieces by new choreographers selected by The Chimera Project's Artistic Director Malgorzata Nowacka. Oooh, that sounds wonderful. I miss dance so much! Opera's just not the same. I hadn't thought about why I love modern so much, but you've nailed it for me. It's much like sf/f that way.

No, opera's not. They can go together well if you like that sort of thing, though at least a few people of my acquaintance prefer them separate so as to be able to concentrate on the one or the other. Nice thing about opera is that, at least in my opinion, it translates to recording better than dance, so you can experience something close to a performance more portably. That said, I don't have the knowledge to fully appreciate opera.

Was modern ever one of the styles you danced? Or would like to/have?

This and other sorts of performance arts definitely contribute to my thoughts about why I like living where I do/where I'd like to live in future.

I did a little bit of modern--enough to know how it works, anyway. I'm not as well suited to it as I am to other forms, but I liked the challenge.

Live performances are always better than recorded ones, but I like recordings because repeated exposure lets me learn the bones of it. Dance, music, whatever...

I miss living where there was lots of live stuff. :-(
