When I was growing up, all the roadsigns on the "back roads" were full of pellet holes.
Yeah--I'm from Idaho. So I'm totally familiar with street signs as target practice. ;-)

re: Alderaan: dear *lord* how I loved seeing Alderaan. And even though that particular fanfic character of mine is dead, she still leaped to action in the back of my brain and said 'OOH! the mountain retreat!' immediately when that scene started. :-D
