I haven't been around much because I've been working like crazy on stuff for school (I'm a PhD student) so I haven't really had time to read much... I'm hoping things will slow down for a while now, though, so I should be able to read more!
Oh my goodness! I so very thoroughly enjoyed this book! I read it a few month ago, and it's a very quick read, like you said, b/c of the pictures. I love how the pictures help to tell the story so words aren't always needed. It is a truly amazing book - I've heard many librarians say that if ever a book was to win the Caldecott and Newbery, this one would have - but sadly it only got the Caldecott. I thought the end of the book was quite surprising and had no inkling that that was how it was going to end - a spectacular read! Thanks for posting on this Deana!
You're welcome :) It's the first children's book I've been able to read in a while, so I wanted to get it in this community! Glad to hear you agreed with my analysis.
