Happy digging

Today was my first real workday in the yard. It was warm and sunny for awhile, and I was out there almost three hours. Leaves were scraped up and bagged, hedges, roses, and grapevines were pruned, daylilies were thinned out (and some moved to a spot where there needs to be something holding the earth together, all the better if it's pretty). I have always found the B-water house's yard to be an incredible showplace... it's just awesome, all the work they've done over the years. Of course, comparing it to my place, I love my yard, but I envy *their* sunny yard and (apparently) non-acidic soil!

Re: crud, scum, and goop, I know what you mean. Some of it may be a byproduct of hard water, but also one year one of my friends (not Deb) gave us a whole bunch of homemade soap, and something in it seemed to make the drain problem worse, even though the soap felt and smelled great. We did eventually find out what ingredient that was causing the problem -- my friend had also just noticed the same at home, and he changed his recipe. Just FYI!
