I remembered my other vidding question!

Thoughts on using a song with audience applause in it? Is there a way to shape the vid so the applause does not seem like the vidder giving it to themself, but rather as another element of the instrumental part of the song? Has anyone used a song with applause? I seem to recall

Do you mean those live songs? Oh, live songs. So emotional, but so much applause. I sometimes still use the song and I don't think the applause is too disruptive.

Here is my last vid (sniff) and there was applause/crowd noise in the beginning. I think it's okay because when you hear it the clips have many people in them? I dunno, it's a serious vid so you tell me.

I say if you love the song, go for it.

Imo, applause could serve as a good ending of the actor tribute vid, especially if it's a memorial vid about deceased person. I vaguely remember something like that in Jim Henson tribute video, but I can't find it now (or probably I remember it wrong).

Are you thinking of my Dexter vid? At the very end there's some laughing and clapping, which I tried to use to its creepiest potential, hee. trelkez has an older vid-in-progress that uses a live song with some applause interspersed throughout, and she was working on a way to make it work thematically with the vid's structure -- she might have some advice (or words of warning?) about it. My own thinking would be that it's probably difficult but definitely not impossible.

Oh and there was also my Carnivale vid! I think it started out with audience noise because the first half of the vid was taken from a live version of my vidsong... I really wanted the creepy plaintiveness of the live version AND the carnivalesque instrumentation of the studio version, so I found a point in the vid where I could transition from one to the other. That saved me from having to deal with applause at the end of the vid, and the noise at the beginning was abstracted enough that it didn't have much impact aside from maybe "*carnival noises*."

I'd be really intersted in answers - there are so many good songs that are only available from live performances! I have often dispaired because I found the perfect song for a vid, but couldn't find a studio version of it, and couldn't really think how to make the clapping etc work.
