I got you a link to an interactive story about a mining town that ceased to exist?

Pine PointTruly one of the most fascinating things I've seen on the Internet. It takes awhile to get through, but it's worth it to do. It's inspired some contemplation on memories and hometowns and how your past shapes your present and your future. I think you ( Read more... )

If you criticize the special guest star in Dollhouse's Season 2 opener, there will be defriending. ;p

lol, "what about Bob" inspired my very first fanfic ever! it was also the first NC-17 story in the fandom... there just NEEDED to be follow-up hurt/comfort for that episode, and there WASN'T any! after waiting for several days, I gave in and wrote it, and I've never looked back.

It was an excellent episode. I can TOTALLY see the hurt/comfort. Now I'm clearly going to have to go through your fic to find it, because I'm curious. *g*

And Claudia Black was in "The Other Dick," where she plays the assistant to the private detective that gets killed. She's AMAZING.

Thanks for the link to that documentary. It hits so close to home - move Pine Point a few kms southeast and you could have my hometown, my childhood, my memories, my houseparties, my skiing behind a car, my life.

And I can tell you what is worse than your hometown not existing anymore - having it exist as a ghost of itself, living there and watching it slowly die and not being able to do anything to save it, wondering if it will have another generation at all, talking about the good old days.

Wow, I bet that is really difficult. It's interesting you bring that up, because my first thought about Pine Point was to wonder WHY they would choose to get rid of the whole town. But what you said is probably why; they don't want to see it wither away. *hugs*
