Some vid recs & a meme!

I have been keeping myself busy this weekend doing various things (including napping! \o/) and that includes trying to watch some of the many many MANY VividCon vids that are being posted. Even with the ones I've seen, it's still just a sliver of what's available, but here is a first round of quick recs.

I'm sorry, but how does something like The Da Vinci Code even get on that list? Seeing it listed with so many timeless classics just makes me seethe. Oh, and I have news for the BBC: God didn't write the Bible.

Yeah I really don't understand how The Da Vinci Code made this particular list. It's boggling.

That seems as good a reason as any!

Your favorite book is Watership Down, you made an awesome Obama vid, and now you're watching Homicide (fanvid fanvid fanvid fanvid). I'd marry you if I weren't already taken. :D

p.s. All Frank all the time. \o/

Heeee, this comment made me smile, thank you!

It's funny, actually, I've had a Homicide vid idea for two years now, having never even watched the show. I'm pleased to report that it looks like it will work out. Just need to find time. Heh.

How did you get started vidding? I have an idea for one (using the song "Devil's Dance Floor" by Flogging Molly for an Chris and Ella vid) and I have no idea where to start.

I actually started by downloading a trial version of Ulead software and playing around with random clips I'd gotten online. Then my first vid was to a single episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which in retrospect I was glad about because it was easier for me to vid just the one episode than try to do the whole 7-season series.

I'm not sure if you're on a PC or a Mac, but I have a ton of useful links in my Vid Tech memories here. Look for the ones that say 'Vidding 101' or something like that, they're very helpful! (Especially take a look at Vidding For Newbies).

It seems overwhelming starting out, so just remember to try to focus on a few key things: the software you're using, the song you're using, and how to rip clips from DVD. The rest of it is stuff you can master later. :)

Thank you! I'll let you know how it turns out.

(and I've read twenty of the books on that list, The DaVinci Code alas, was among them, but it's not a bad read if you think of it as crack!fic)

I'd really love to know the criteria they used to compile this list. The Da Vinci Code? Really?!? And it's otherwise an odd mishmash.

I've read 81. Woo?

It really is a strange collection of books. I don't get it.

Only 81? You've been slacking. *g*

I've read 11 of that list, which makes me quite proud. (I also got a third of the way through War and Peace but couldn't manage to finish it, so that's not counted.) I don't read much these days -- well, when I do, it ends up being fannish stuff not proper printed pages -- so 11 isn't bad at all.

There's a couple on that list that I've started and haven't finished, too (like The Hobbit - and I'm a GAMER for heaven's sake).

I read that but... it was in comic book form. (A present for my ninth birthday. Totally awesome and beloved by me for many, many years.) So I figured I couldn't really count it.
