I am so charmed by Simon's geniune affection for Melinda Doolittle on American Idol. I mean getting up and giving her the kiss and saying "I'm so pleased for you" when she was voted into the top 24? All of the times he says how nice she is and how brilliant her singing is? Saying last night that she should be in the finale? The little smiles

Well, take comfort in the fact that she's obviously going to get a recording contract no matter what, now. Man, I really thought Jordin was the one going home, as she got entirely screwed by the songs chosen for her last night. She Works Hard For the Money? WTF?

I must admit, I only watched to see Elliott. I have no idea what he or Jordin sound like, but they both creep me out. Melinda may have no neck, but the girl can wail! I love that they had Elliott (the best pure singer in S5) there to make it clear to her (and everyone else) that sometimes finishing in the #3 spot can be a blessing in disguise.
