I am so overjoyed to see good Anita Cortez fic. She's so awesome, and you really captured the kind of tenacious, brave spirit she embodies. The details of her early life were horrific and matter-of-fact, and I loved your take on her mindset and what allowed her to rise above her origins and pursue the kind of life she wanted. Wonderfully done.

i think i love Cortez as much as you do, and this is just wonderful. i love her idealism, i love her determination, i love this SO FREAKING MUCH. and i love how it's still due South fic, even in a completely different time and place. you and this fic have all of my love.

YES. Idealism is my number one kink in a character, and I feel like we so rarely get to see female characters like that. She is very much not a victim and I love that about her.
