Hi! *Waves*
I wanted to comment on this vidlet because I had the same sort of reaction as Isis. The sense I got from the vid (coloured with my own preferences, I'm sure) was that Ray K was a good substitute for a while but now that Vecchio's back all is well again. And it was the same shot, the one in the hotel lobby with Frasier running past Kowalski to Vecchio that really made me think that.

On the other hand, that totally worked perfectly for me, because as much as I wish I shipped both Rays, I'm a true F/V OTPer and I actually said "yay" outloud at the hotel clip.

There were a few technical details that I felt were sort of jarring, such as the shot of Ray's empty desk that jumps into a different shot of the same, and the flip into Frasier's PoV, but for a day it was really well done, I think.

Basically, this vidlet rocked like a rocking chair. Oh, and I adored the best of ending. So much with the awesome.

Hi! *waves back*

This is really interesting hearing this response; especially that it was the same moment. I didn't really set out to hit a particular emotional response with this vid, so it's neat to see that it's there anyway.

the shot of Ray's empty desk that jumps into a different shot of the same

Good catch. Fraser stares at the empty desk for a long time, much longer than I had in the vid itself. I think in a different situation I could have intercut it or faded between the two so it's not quite as jarring a cut.

Thanks for the feedback!

And I didn't have a chance to watch this yesterday, but I did today and YAY! :-D This was absolutely WONDERFUL. I really loved the tranistions between the point of views. What I found really fascinating was that when I suggested the song, I had personally envisioned the POVs exactly opposite, so it was really quite interesting to see just how much the shift in the POVs changed the tone of the song for me. (And by the way - VERY nice job on editing the song! I hardly noticed the transition.) I think that my favorite part was the intercutting between Fraser and his two Rays, but I also REALLY loved the mirroring of the postcard from the beginning to the end. VERY nicely done!

You know, I almost emailed you to ask you what you were thinking of with this song, where you placed it mentally and who the POVs were. If you wouldn't mind, could you expand on your own idea for it? I originally wanted to do it the other way, but that seemed to require footage that wasn't actually in the show, because it seems very post-CotW that way.

Thanks!

Oh, no, it's fine. It was a good exercise. And I loved the song, it was just a strange sensation that I got stuck on it being post-CotW and it took me awhile to make it work.

I like your idea of it as an argument. Hard to pull off in a vid unless you set it up right at the beginning. Hm.

And, yeah, it was much more about Fraser having moved on in my first take, and then it became this. Hee.

This is again, a show I don't know at all but I do have a favorite part. I like the effect when the postcard turns over. It really made me smile cause I thought that was cool. I know you wonder about these effects sometimes and most of the time I really like them in vids.
