Lesson #11: Learning how to be patient

So I learned basically nothing new at my last lesson, and that drives me crazy. Not because I feel like I'm not getting my money's worth (what I'm paying for the lessons is worth it just as incentive to practice), but because I'm impatient, and I feel like time spent going over things I already know is time I'm not spending learning something new

The timing on "One Song Glory" is a filthy whore, isn't it? Though maybe it's just me--I totally fail at rhythm these days when it comes to piano. If I don't know the song already, I'm kind of screwed. Which is very sad. But I know "One Song Glory," and yet I still have trouble. Which is sadder.

It is SUCH a filthy whore, omg. If I didn't know the song I'd be like: "wtf is this? Who wrote this crazy ass song?"

I've been listening to the Rent soundtrack a lot the last few days. I prefer the movie version of "Take Me Or Leave Me," I've decided.

And yeah, I go back and forth on the soundtracks; I knew the first one so well, but I love the new one, too, and Tracie Thoms! So I may have to agree with you on that song, anyway.

Tracie Thoms is actually what makes me like that one song better. I was so friggin' (hee) impressed by her.

Although on the Broadway soundtrack, I get chills every time during "What You Own," when Mark and Roger are harmonizing the part about "What was it about that night / connection in an isolating age / for once, the shadows gave way to light" - the way Anthony Rapp draws out "light" just slays me.
