First, I was sorry to see that Michael Piller died yesterday. He was an important cornerstone of the Star Trek universe, and his reach extends into other shows and careers as well (Jane Espenson, anyone?). Only 57 years old, too. What a loss. My condolences to his family and friends.

The Serenity DVD cover art is out. Fans are up-in-arms! ( Read more... )

Hee, your welcome. I'm an ARStechnica junkie since they manage to put all the techie news in understandable format generally.

And thanks for the link to pre-order serenity.;)

Wheeee!!!! Can't wait to see your farscape reviews at the reel.

I should read more non-LJ blogs. Heh.

I'm going to have to sift carefully through my Farscape saved vids. *rubs hands together*

It sounds like that would screw up a lot more than TiVo. Just think of the hoops we'll have to jump through to get new vidding equipment if that goes through. I don't think it will. I think the tech companies have started to figure out the lobbying game. They may not be as good at it as the entertainemnt industry but, we can hope.

Oh it will screw a considerable number of things. But may also push the on-demand tv model that iTunes is starting more dramatically. Not that those won't also be encoded, but they may not fall under the 90 minute rule. I hope. Or else then the record companies will fall in line, too.

Oh, dude. That MPAA is fucking bullshit. Just when I think we're making progress in how media is distributed... hopefully they won't be able to go through with it--I think it would piss off a lot more people than it would benefit.

I don't think they care who the piss off, they care about how much money they're losing. Although it's been shown that the amount they think they're losing to downloads is probably a lot less, and everything else they're losing they're losing because people hate going to the theaters to see shitty movies.

I need to make a pissed off icon.

Yeah, but you piss off the consumer, you're doing yourself a good deal of harm in the long run. Unfortunately, "long run" seems to be a foreign concept to a lot of entertainment folks.
