I think lists work, if only because you can totally check what you need to get done and start crossing them, and it's that which gives you the sense of accomplishment. Or maybe I'm just weird.

Things I want to finish this month:

I just wrote another scene in that fic, but dude, HOLY SHIT WHY DOES IT HATE ME SO MUCH. *sniff*

I get something done and then I stare at the screen for a good hour. WHY OH WHY. *cries*
