Awww. I never do this since, I too, am a non-fandom participant, but I just wanna say hey! Hello! :::hugs::: T'wasn't until SPN that I even felt comfortable saying I was in the fandom of anything. Like fans were so...fannish or whatever. But here we are, knee-deep in the hoopla and I'm so glad that for whatever reason you feel like now's a good time to dive in. I guess I'm figuring out that fandom is so great, so vibrant, and when I don't let anyone arbitrate what it "is" to me, I really enjoy it.
As for Shadow, it's not my favorite, favorite, I don't think, but I love it for the "on the verge" of conversations that Sam and Dean have. Trying to imagine their lives differently and for Sam that's a relief and Dean, it's a horror bigger than anything that comes attacking him. It makes me hurt in that really good way that the show sometimes does.
I'm so glad that for whatever reason you feel like now's a good time to dive in. Aww, thanks. I think it's mostly 'cause I'm older (than I was when I first found any fandoms) and working on stomping my shyness into the ground. Plus, fandom is a great place to meet people. One of my best friends lives over in England. I never would have met her if not for LOTR. And as I said, sometimes one just needs a place to talk forever. In life, people say "Shut up!" and online they can just scroll down the page (not that there aren't people online saying “Shut up”, of course. :P )
I guess I'm figuring out that fandom is so great, so vibrant, and when I don't let anyone arbitrate what it "is" to me, I really enjoy it. Oh, I like that idea a lot. Also, I've noticed that in a nice big fandom like SN, you can always find someone who's into the same stuff and thinks in a way that agrees with you.
I get what you're saying about 'Shadow', I think. I picked it as my favorite because it made me feel more than any SN ep has yet. And

I am a LOTR-fan, too and met some wonderful people at ToRN (you've heard of that fansite?) and yet, I always felt really like this is a casual thing. SPN, uh, no, it's driving me to fanfic, man, fanfic!
Hmmm. Under those guidelines, I'd have to say Faith'd be my favorite. I was all over the map on that one.
I can't help but think-if we get the time we need with this show-that one day we'll be thinking back to what they said. When it's all said and done, I doubt it will look like what either of them wanted. That is a lovely way to put it. I guess my hope is that we stay more satisfied than Sam and Dean. They bring the angst and that'll be all I ask for. Can't wait to see how this all plays out.
I know ToRN, or I used to. I really enjoyed LOTR, but I let it go pretty fast when it was over. I still have a few authors who's stuff I read, just 'cause it's that good, though.
SN is one of those things I think I'll keep with even if it ended really soon, like I do with, say, Firelfy-the show that ate my soul and won't give it back. I think SN is really starting to climb my list of shows, living and dead. A couple more seasons like this and it'll be next to Firefly and Farscape. As of now SN is my happy obsession, I fall a little more every day.
Haha, I don't have to be driven to fanfic-just driven to post the stuff. The shyness again, I guess. :)
I'd have to say Faith'd be my favorite.Well, let me put it this way, I still haven't watched it a second time. It killed me dead. One day, perhaps, I'll brave the emotional roller-coaster again. Maybe when the dvd comes out

you too? i remember after i read "remains of the day" i started to speak like stevens (very elabourate but emotionally constipated).
HAR. the license plate. would have squealed too. my friends thought i was a big loser ever since i realized i had the same initials as dean (yes, have reached a new low).
