Comic-Con 2011 Badge Resale Information

The deadline for refunded badges was June 20, 2011. We will announce via our website, Facebook, Twitter and RSS feed when those refunded badges will go on sale. This is a soft opening so the announcement will be made on the day registration opens with about one hour prior notice.

Oh wow. That...seems like such a mistake. The whole appeal for me of getting a four day pass was that it was cheaper. If not, I'd just go on Friday or Saturday and screw the rest of the Con.

I feel that if they had a better system of sales and they didn't sell out of everything in like a day, people would be able to get 4-day passes when they wanted. It's not that they're cheaper so people are gobbling them up. They're getting them because they don't know how long the passes are going to be on sale so they get what they can when they can get it. Saying that they're doing this because of complaints just seems like an easy excuse to raise prices, especially given that they're already selling them at the non-discounted price.

Not only that, but we don't know what day things are going to be on. Like, everyone kept saying the Twilight fans were buying all the Saturday badges, but that's on a Thursday now.

Yes, definitely that, too. I mean, I like having a four day because I generally see things on Friday-Sunday and then I take all day Thursday to explore the exhibit hall, but as it's just gotten bigger and more crowded (even thought they continually say they sell the same amount or even less tickets) and the schedules are usually fairly conflicting for things that have the same viewers...it's just too insane now. I don't want to deal with that for my fandom squee. That, on top of the ticket sales issues...

Dang, more waiting. I need to get like, two single-day badges for my friend. She works the early shift and will probably be unable to purchase them herself. I'm guessing badges go on sale at 8 am, whatever day that will be? Anyone have any experience with this sorta thing?

What would be smart is if they let people exchange badges first... people who bought a four-day badge could exchange it right now for whatever one/two/three days they want and get the partial refund, and then those additional four-day badges could go on sale. That way the Twilight kids could buy their Thursday badges and give their Saturday ones up, and those with four-day badges who can now only attend the weekend dates can get those and not take up Thursday/Friday badges that others might want.

I like this idea. T'would be ideal if CCI found a way to implement it.
