Man, almost $100 a week you're saving! That's going to add up quickly. I'm so happy for you.

So how did your darlings like school? Do they like their teachers?

Sounds like they calculate the number of start up class sizes the same way my area does it. At the end of the year the school board calculates how many teachers each grade will need next year. Sometimes I think they use fuzzy math. For instance, this year we are starting with 3 second grade classes even though their students are coming from 4 first grade classes. First and second have the same class sizes.

When school starts there is a certain date (for us the 10th day of school) when schools report to the district the number of students in each grade. Then, the district tells principals how many teacher positions have been earned for each grade. First, teachers are moved within the school from grades that lost a position to grades that gained a position. That's how I started in 5th and ended up in kindergarten my first month of teaching. Then, teachers are moved in the district from schools with excess teachers to schools with vacancies. After all the transfers, if there are still vacancies that's when new teachers are hired.
