Voter suppression happens in Canada, as well

Ganked from ponygirl2000, with my sincere thanks because otherwise I wouldn't have seen this article at all. CBC News reports on voter suppression in Canada... just so it's clear that voter suppression does occur in other democratic countries besides the United States.

This was such a contentious election, and I'm so glad it's over. Even when it's not our country, we can't help but hear all about it and worry about it!

I couldn't watch. I was nervous about that too.
Romney was pretty scarey.

Yeah, I couldn't watch at all! I only briefly checked the news at 9:30pm and it looked like Romney was winning. Thankfully I checked LJ and saw the good news being posted on my flist!

Wow, it's kind of nice to see that we're not the only country that has problems in a way, but really crappy to know some other country's conservatives are just as underhanded as ours are at the same time.

Yeah, we were kind of worried there for a little bit, too. I stayed up through the victory speech because I was a volunteer and it was fantastic, but now I'm going to sleep for two days.

Not my country, of course, but oh thank God all the same. For a few hours there, I was really scared Romney was going to win.

It *is* my country and oh, so much this.

I actually wasn't too scared about that, mostly because of Nate Silver and his statistics magic. And as it turns out, all of his predictions came true. He called every single state, which was so gratifying, given the vitriol that the Right was giving him.
