Heh, no, that's James Marsters. James Marsden is an actor who was (until 2008) always the second-string guy who never got the girl, or had the girl only she really wanted someone else (eg Superman Returns). Then he finally got Katherine Heigl in 27 Dresses! It was very exciting :)

I could easily see that getting awkward, with Cam not really knowing what to do and John wanting it to be good for him so badly. Of course, in my imagination, it could also be quite sweet. ;)

ITA. John's characterisation (both show and fandom) suffers from not having the broader scope SG-1 had, with the military details and the interaction. For all that SGA had the larger ensemble, it feels more narrow and claustraphobic than SG-1.

Hmm, Gateworld doesn't have the extended version transcript. Neither does Stargate SG-1 Solutions. The extended ep should be available for download though, right? If you can't find it, I'll see about writing up a transcript of the missing scenes.

Hmmm. Intriguing. Do you happen to have any links to good David/Colby (or good John/Ronon) at all? (I've not seen any SG1 in the Cam era, so although I'm sure he's delightful, I'm more interested in the other pairings just now.)

For John/Ronon, let me point you towards gaffsie's recent John/Ronon rec post. Some very awesome fic. Definitely check out sol_se's vid, Red Moon.

* Cliches/tropes common in your fandom that just don't do it for you -- Ronon as unintelligent, John as being weak. Lorne being psychotic.
* Your ultimate/ideal fic -- Loved, loved. loved Jen Davis' "I am the Weapon" series. The coda for "Ghost in the Machine" is hands down the most erotic, loving John/Ronon interaction, ever ... and it had a shower scene!

Being a romantic at heart, I believe the characters can be heroes and still have a vulnerability at their core that only the other partner can understand.

And I completely agree with you on your bulletproof kinds, especially the stories where they make their relationship work despite all the obstacles. I suspect I'm a romantic at heart...
