Thanks! Yeah, I gotta get back to Cam's POV. Y'know, I'm trying to decide if Patrick is still alive in this AU, because I *really* want him and John to deal with their issues. What do you think?

Personally, I always had the feeling that a large part of why John and his dad (and by extension his brother) had to do with him being gay and his divorce from Nancy. It's because the look that Dave gave John when he introduced Ronon as a 'civilian consultant' was completely incredulous that he may as well have said, "So that's what they're calling it these days?"

Of course, that doesn't really fit this AU, so take from it what you will.

Oh, John being gay is totally (part of) the reason for the rift between him and his family. Even when I wrote the bit of John never actually saying the words, I meant for that to be 'canon' in this verse. That's why Dave gives him that look re 'civilian consultant', because Dave and Patrick and Nancy all know, even though John has never confirmed it.

So yeah, I really need to write the big Patrick-throws-John-out-of-the-house fic. John tries to explain, and fails miserably (as is his wont when it comes to omg feelings) and Patrick refuses to listen and makes doubly sure he'll never have to hear it again by disowning John.

It's both sad and funny how well-trained he's become, trading in a soldier's instincts for those of a father.

Oh, John..... I can tell he's not unhappy about that decision, that he can think of it that way..... but coming to terms with Cam's family.... nicely done!

Yes, *exactly*. John didn't have what Cam has, unshakeable trust in his family's love. This was Cam's POV, which I still hope to finish:

Cam's feeling more of a nervous edge than he'd like to admit. His family will never stop loving him, come hell or high water-- he knows this like he knows his own name. But that doesn't stop him from worrying about their reactions. What they'll think of him, whether they'll be disappointed. Not *in* him, because that's just not how his parents operate, but disappointed in their hopes for him. Cam's had friends who claimed to not care about their families' opinions, which Cam thinks is a bunch of hooey. He knows it'd break his heart to break his parents' hearts.

I adore this but I was confused going 'where did they get a kid?!!' and thought I missed something and was pouting because I hadn't seen it... then I saw it was your stargate_summer project. *cue moar pouting* (I can't wait for it to come out)

I felt so bad for John and how worried he was but I love that Cam understood. ♥

Unfortunately stargate_summer is no longer happening! I'm writing the relationship stuff in shorter fics, hopefully explain where Brendan comes from, how they get together. No idea if I'll get around to the political stuff!

I do hope to write the Easter coming out story from Cam's POV for end of lgbtfest.

John's had some bad experiences, but Cam's going to surprise him ;)
