9/11 art (which I hope won't be interpreted as disrespectful)

I don't know if it's considered disrespectful to do art for 9/11 but I can't see why not. I wrote a poem the week after 9/11 happened. But poetry isn't my strong suit, so I'll stick to PhotoShop and let more eloquent people speak.

Images are from photos I took while visiting pocky_slash in May. We never did make it up the Empire State Building, but I got a ( Read more... )

Those who are wise continue to value love and liberty, as they did before, and I've got plenty of very wise people on my flist. *hugs*

That's very true.

Just got the election-year blues, I guess.

And what I should have said first is how beautiful that is. The pix, the quote, the layout, all of it.

I think it's totally appropriate. I've got it on my desktop, if that's ok. :)

I don't see any reason why it would be considered disrespectful to do art for 9/11. I mean, you're honoring and responding to the event, not exploiting it or anything.

And I really like the wallpaper you made.

That's what I was trying to do, yes. Just wanted to be sensitive about it.

I'm glad you like it :)

Just OMG! It's beautiful. Thank you.

I'm just... Tides of men across the sky, shining, when.

Thank you. Goes off to be all flustered and OMG! I love it.

I know very little about T.E. Lawrence. Never even watched the movie! But I loved your post and your call for flexibility and openness. Was intrigued by the title, Seven-Pillars of Wisdom, so I jumped over to Wikipedia, found the quote, loved that it was from Proverbs, loved that the poem is possibly dedicated to his male lover, and it just seemed to fit with Lady Liberty standing guard, yet opening her arms.

Very glad you like it!
