International Blog Against Racism Week

Shoot. I'm going to miss International Blog Against Racism Week (Aug 4-10) this year. Not that I participated last year, or ever. But having become so enmeshed in Magnificent Seven fandom in recent weeks, and wishing Nathan had a better presence/stronger following (to put it mildly), I've found myself interested in reading more about racism -- ( Read more... )

Oooh, you should totally drabble! I'd love to see some M7 fic from you! I've been watching my dvds constantly ever since I got them. The plots aren't always the best, but they do some interesting things now and then. I love the themes, and the characters are ♥♥♥, all of them :)

Nathan is totally my Early Activist Hero. I do wish he didn't get so much flack for being judgmental about Ezra, though.

They NEVER hid Ezra's racism. In fact, they did a damn good job of throwing it in his face on a regular basis and making him own up.
YES! I mean, I don't see that it's such a horrible thing for Ezra (and Buck!) to be a little bit racist. It's like the Avenue Q song! Not like it makes them evil, just a bit ignorant/prejudiced. Not like all the guys aren't a bit sexist now and then, either. It happens. I just don't get blaming the character who says, hey, that's wrong. And not only do we NOT want them saying "that's wrong", we expect them to be oh-so nice and polite about it, as if hurting the prejudiced person's feelings is worse than protesting racism. (See, this is what reading race discussions on LJ does to me. I can't shut up!)

You've written M7 fic? I think I've asked before but... link please?? *g*
