I thought you might like this quote from The Official Movie Magazine, Serenity from and Interview with Gina Torres.

Wash was such a light for her and a great refuge from all the darkness in her life that when that light goes out, it's a struggle not to revert to who she was before he came into her life which was what Mal is."

OMG I want that in the BDS

Out of curiousity, did you get to read the comics?

Yes, yes, we need the BDS!! No, haven't read the comics yet. Must hie myself to Ye Olde Comics Store!

Gina Torres is a smart, smart lady. I love it when actors have real insight into their characters! I can only hope the sequel delves into this further. Hell, I want fanfic that delves into it. I have a feeling I'm going to be reading a lot of post-movie fanfic. Wash!! Nooo!!

Yes. Killed my favorite character, Joss did. Agree with your analysis - and your feelings.

Sigh.

"Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal." It wasn't when Wash died, it was when we saw his dinosaurs again that I lost it....

I completely agree with what you said about two canons...I've been pondering the same myself. Actually, when Book died, I thought "oh, it's alright...he's not really dead on the show" and then I went "What?". I loved the movie, and I accept that this is probably the only continuance of the series we will ever get. But in some ways, I feel like the characters we knew from the show are still living out another life that we just don't get to watch. In some ways, we got to see them keep living and growing. It's complicated.

THE MOVIE KICKED ASS> OMG> LOVE FOREVER.

And okay, The scene with River and the weapons dripping blood, that was very close to Buffy in Anne right? Blake is arguing with me about that.

Similar, but I was thinking more of the Scythe in "Chosen". Neither of those weapons were dripping blood though. Serenity was definitely more graphic in that way.

But YES! Movie kicked ass! I didn't get to go see it again today, but I'll try tomorrow afternoon. Sean Maher without a shirt on! Yummm.

Ahh, I want to see again but getting there is really really a pain in the ass. And expensive.

Yeah, I guess I'm really lucky to be so close to the movie theatre. Well at least you guys got to see it once! And let's just hope the DVD comes out REALLY SOON.
