However, when I lack inspiration, sometimes I just grab some watercolors and do swirly patterns - other times I just copy an amusing (to me) picture out of a book.
Maybe a similar thing for writers would be to take a word or something, and make little rhymes on it. Or grab an object like a banana, and make up some wierd story about it.
So write, dear friend. Just write. About Lisa, about the air, about the terrible show, about seeing me (LOL!), about being an Auntie, about your rug...whatever. Just let your soul breathe.
Yep. . .what's been said. You're putting pressure on yourself to write to a certain subject, and that's probably not what you WANT to write about. When I get stuck, I'll write down the first 5-10 words that come to my head. Then I play a kind of '6 degrees of separation' game with them. . . try to connect the dots between the words in six or less steps (and by that, I mean going from the first to the second word in six or less steps). Could be anything. I could connect the first two words with a person, a name, a few adjectives, anything.
What usually happens is that I get a sort of home-made mad lib out of it, which usually makes me giggle, and it release the pressure so I can focus on what I need to say.
Maybe if you use a voice recorder (or tape recorder) to possibly verbalize your thoughts and then use it to put them to paper. Anyhoo, good luck on the writing! Can't wait to someday read it!
