On my computer the whole thing is cut off about half-way into the right column. I tried scrolling right as far as it would go, but it's just cut off. Hmmm...
Hee! Thanks for posting this. I'm actually quite curious about what they could do with Leoben in the next season.
I mean, I know I'm not the most perceptive of people, but I never really got where they were going from having him keep Starbuck in their fake home with a stolen child to acting as some kind of spirit guide in Maelstrom. But you know, I always need everything explained to me twice and no-one's successfully explained this to me once yet.
Yeah, I get what it says about her. I just don't get what they're doing with him, although I suppose in Maelstrom he's not really himself. She sees him as her guide because he's something of a kindred spirit? I don't know, it's all a bit too clever for me, I need things to hit me over the head, literal should be my middle name.
What I am trying to say is that I truly don't understand what he's supposed to be even as a cylon. After all in this season all you've seen him do is hang around a flat getting stabbed at various intervals. He produces this child to do what exactly? Get Starbuck to say she loves him? What does that actually *accomplish*? There was no interaction between him and the other cylons, no hint that they even knew what he was up to. Or what that had to do with anything else they were doing. Sorry, I'm assaulting you with my late night ramblings now.
Why Leoben in Maelstrom? Your guess is as good a mine. I think it's because despite everything Kara made a connection with him in F&B. Other than that, I got nothing.
Leoben is the mystery cylon. *g*
We've really only seen him interact with Kara. The times he's been with the other cylons, he's usually just standing there looking pretty. Yeah, the Leoben model is the one who gathered the dying cylons on the infected baseship to pray and a Leoben model voiced the consensus the D'Anna & Baltar had to turn back from going down to the planet. But really, that's it. Oh, Six says he listens to the hybrid.
It's always bugged me that Leoben was never seen with the other models on New Caprica. It's like they told him go get your pet human and stay out of our way. Or maybe he was operating on his own. We have no way of knowing.
Interesting to learn that Callum thinks the character he played 'was' Leoben in Maelstrom - when most viewers believed it was someone (or something) else just appearing to be Leoben.

I think what the writers were going for was Leoben showing Kara she was not like her mother. And that she has worth beyond being a pilot. I think.

Sorry, I wish I had it figured out.

Near the end of Maelstrom, Kara says "You're not Leoben." And he answers "I never said I was." Maybe Leoben channels the cylon god. *shrugs*

I wish we had interviews with his thoughts on all his characters. Wouldn't you love to know what he thought of Ray? And Billy?
*twirls and twirls*
