This entry is part 52 of 52 in the series 365 Challenge
So characters have habits, ways they interact with certain people and situations, things they do and like to do, stories and histories together. I've known a lot of my characters' for a long time but getting them all into fic is interesting, particularly for the ones I don't know that for.

A/N: So I wasn't expecting this one, but it fits a whole lot better than I expected. Sorry for the… hints? Hopefully, it's not too opaque.

"Alpha."

Whisper's quiet voice interrupted the roll of panic and just-the-facts underlying the images on the viewer. Red Wolf did not look up. He could feel her as she rounded the table in their hotel suite and came to sit beside him on the couch ( ... )

So this is why he does the mercenary work... he blames himself for the Thorn Republic being almost destroyed?

No. And it's not actually mercenary. He does a lot of things, and sometimes he consults for folks and ends up going into some situations because of friends-like how Rachelle ends up going into them.

Oh. Okay.

I guess I didn't understand his work after the tax one.

I admit, I don't know what a lot of them do now that they're civilians.

That's partly because I haven't gotten into most of them. Who did you want to know?

And as said earlier, that wasn't typical of Justus', so you're pretty safe unless you get a warning, which I try to always be good about warning for things I think you won't like.

I'm not sure. It would be interesting, maybe, to see some of the work Red Wolf does.

Storm, perhaps.

I know what Sketch does, what Rachelle and Surge do, what Ashen does, what Justus does, what Cate does. Marcella works at the telephone company.

Ricki, Alex, Lightsculpt, Meld... I'm drawing a blank on others.

A/N: A brief start into the topic because it highlights a background detail you're going to need.

Red Wolf had been mulling it for a while and he finally got around to telling her in the middle of the move in. "I'd rather you not work."

Whisper looked up from a box of books she was unpacking.

"You shouldn't have to," he said.

Her mouth quirked in amusement. "None of us have to work."

A material point considering they all got back and severance pay from the Thorn Republic as part of the treaty, but there were expectations and restlessness and… "I know." He hung another mirror on the wall over where they intended to put the piano. "But most of us are probably going to and I'm going to need to do something." He stopped abruptly and glanced over at his wife ( ... )

Ah, she chose to be a stay at home Mom.

Almost a strange choice for an operative who was once the top ranked assassin, but... the right one, I think.

They have a great family.

For her, it was always personal.

Just noticed my typo. She was organizing the books, not Wolf!

Ah. :)

Lol. She probably organizes him, too.

A/N: So not thrillingly exciting, but a good picture of some of his work at least.

Wolf entered the back of the room quietly and stood waiting behind the loose groups of businessmen as they discussed their needs going forward. Bluestone Enterprises was looking to grow, and expansion in a city like Bellyn dealt with multiple territories in a small amount of space ( ... )

It is interesting to see how the training he got applies to a civilian situation.

Okay, I honestly have no idea why I felt this needed to be done (I don't know that it should have been done, honestly, but...) This piece somehow inspired this, so...

An interesting concept indeed. Though WHY doesn't he need her?!

Okay, calming down. Very interesting. Of course, the truth is on regaining memories... it depends. On the serum used, how well the body integrated it, etc., but yeah. This is intriguing.

I'm not sure if I've got enough Recall to write her well yet. Will have to consider bouncing this one back with a reply fic.

There are a few possible reasons why he doesn't. Some good, some bad. I guess I'm not sure which of them to pick. The fact that she's on her own suggests a bad one, though.

I wasn't entirely sure how much they could get back of their memories, but I couldn't help thinking that she might be able to help the people that couldn't get them back another way.

You could always do one with him discussing it with his family and if he wants to go ahead with it, if he thinks he can trust her, all that fun... If you want to do a reply, that is. You don't have to.
